When does Disability Living Allowance stop?

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) only stops when the claimant no longer satisfies the disability requirements. However, the program is only for individuals filing a claim prior to their 65th birthday.

Children and adults suffering from disabilities that require extra personal care or those with conditions that impair their walking ability are eligible for the tax-free benefit. The individual must have experienced such difficulties for at least three months and expect to have them for an additional six months before applying. Those age 65 or older with the same disabilities who have not previously filed for DLA may file a claim to receive the benefits in the form of an attendance allowance.
