What is a disability review?

A disability review is a routine check performed by the federal government to ensure that benefit recipients are still eligible for disability payments. These reviews occur every three years, except in special circumstances.

Circumstances that change the frequency of a disability review include the age of the benefit recipient and when the recipient's condition is expected to improve. Children younger than 1 year and recipients whose medical circumstances are expected to improve in a short time are reviewed more often. Recipients whose conditions are permanent receive a review less often, and children with disabilities are automatically reviewed when they reach the age of 18.
