How do you disable right click in Windows?

To disable the ability to use a mouse's right-click function to call a context menu in Windows, open the registry editor, create a new value and restart the computer. Create a system restore point before making any changes.

1. Create a system restore point

   To create a system restore point, click Start, Computer and then the System Properties option towards the top of the window. On the left-hand side of the window, click on System Protection. Make sure the System Protection tab is selected, and click Create. Type a description of the system restore point, and click Create.

2. Open the registry editor and locate the correct key

   Open the Windows Run command and type in "regedit," and press Enter. Locate the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer.

3. Add the new value and restart the computer

   In the right-hand pane, right-click and create a new 32-bit DWORD value. Name the new value "NoViewContextMenu," and give it a value of 1. To change the setting back to re-enable right-click context menus, change the "NoViewContextMenu" value to 0 or delete it.

4. Restart the computer

   Restart the computer for all changes to take effect. If the changes did not work, go back to the registry editor and look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer. It is possible there is a previous "NoViewContextMenu" saved. If this is the case, delete the value or change it to the desired setting.
