What is Divya Bhaskar?

Divya Bhaskar is a daily newspaper in the Indian state of Gujarat. It was launched in 2003 amid a focused media campaign to boost initial readership numbers.

The media campaign was successful, and the first issue of Divya Bhaskar was released on June 23, 2003. It sold approximately 452,000 copies, breaking a world record at the time for most newspapers sold by a new periodical. As of September 2014, it boasts a readership of over 854,000, reaching cites throughout the Gujarat region as well as worldwide readers via an online version. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dainik Bhaskar Group, the largest media company in India.
