Why are Doberman ears cropped?
By Forinfos - 09/03/2025 - 0 comments
The ears of the Doberman Pinscher are cropped because their natural ears are long and floppy. Trimming part of the ear away allows the ear to function in a manner more similar to the ears of other dogs.
After being cropped, the ear can perk up in alert, position itself towards incoming sounds and lay flat against the head. The procedure itself needs to be performed by a talented surgeon who takes into consideration the structure of the ear, head shape and size, and crop style. Post-operation, the owner must perform ear care for the dog to make sure the cartilage stiffens appropriately.
