What is a Dominican blowout?

A Dominican blowout is a hair-straightening process made popular in Dominican salons. The blowout involves shampooing and conditioning the hair and using high heat to straighten the hair thoroughly.

Shampoo and conditioner brands that are used in Dominican hair salons include Kuz or Sedal. After the hair is washed, it is detangled. This is part of the Dominican blowout process whether the hair is relaxed or natural but especially if the hair is very curly and free of chemicals. To straighten and smooth the hair, magnetic rollers are installed. After sitting under the dryer, the rollers are removed and a roller brush and blow dryer are used to straighten the hair section by section.
