Dry mouth is not a symptom of thrush, according to Healthline. Some medicines may cause a dry mouth, which may help the infection develop and spread, states BootsWebMD.
The body's inability to fight off a fungus called Candida albicans causes thrush, according to Healthline. Symptoms of thrush include white lesions inside the mouth or on the tongue; mouth pain where the lesions are located; dry, cracked skin at the corners of the mouth; and difficulty swallowing if the condition has spread to the esophagus. Antifungal medicines are usually enough to treat the condition and may include antifungal oral medication, mouthwashes or lozenges that the patient keeps in her mouth until it dissolves.
