What is dry shampoo?

Dry shampoo is a starch- or silica-based product that absorbs excess oil from your hair and scalp without the use of water, giving the look and feel of clean hair. It comes in powder or liquid form, as well as an aerosol spray, and is often used before styling hair.

This hair product is often used in between washes when styling time is slim, water is not readily available, or to help prolong a hairstyle. Some varieties of dry shampoo also add volume to the hair. Brands that sell their own varieties of dry shampoo include Suave, L'Oreal, Dove and Garnier Fructis.
