Do dryer sheets kill bed bugs?

Dryer sheets do not kill bedbugs, although heat in excess of 120 degrees Fahrenheit does kill them. Drying infested items for 10 to 20 minutes in a standard clothes dryer rids them of all stages of the pest. However, it does not eliminate the source of the infestation.

The source of a bedbug infestation may be in many places in a home, including inside beds and furniture, behind baseboards, and inside the cracks or crevices in walls or ceilings. Drying all linens and clothing in an appropriate manner, steam cleaning carpets and having a professional exterminator service chemically treat the home is the best method to eliminate infestations.
