Will cedar oil kill bed bugs?

According to the Federal Trade Commission, cedar oil has not been scientifically proven to be effective in the treatment of bed bugs, though it is an ingredient in many commercial products and home remedies intended for use in bed bug prevention.
The FTC advises using integrated pest management to rid a home of bed bugs. This requires using a combination of pest control techniques. Avoid using pesticide on bedding, clothing and electronic items. These items should be treated with steam instead. Use of chemical pesticides should be minimal and restricted solely to EPA-approved products that are designed specifically for use against bed bugs.
