Bed bug skin bites on a dog resemble insect bites from fleas and mosquitoes. It is rare to find live bed bugs on a dog or in the fur. Signs that point to a bed bug infestation include live bed bugs on mattresses or dog beds, finding exoskeleton molts left by bed bugs, or seeing rusty, fecal spots left by bed bugs. Anti-flea and anti-tick pet products have no effect on bed bugs.
