The DS-160 Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form is for temporary travel and fiancé visas to the United States. Visa applicants must fill out and submit the form electronically on the Department of State website. They must then schedule an appointment for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.

After completing the DS-160 form, visa applicants must print out the bar code page. They must also pay the required fee. Consular officers review the information from the DS-160 and the visa interview to determine whether the applicant is eligible to receive a nonimmigrant visa, explains the U.S. Department of State.
