Duke University Medical Center is located at 2301 Erwin Road in Durham, North Carolina. The center is also known as Duke University Hospital and is the teaching hospital at the Duke University Health System, which serves patients in Durham and Wake counties.
Duke University Hospital was founded in 1930. It is a full-service tertiary and quaternary care hospital, as of 2015, with 938 acute care beds. U.S.News & World Report ranks the hospital as one of the leading medical centers in the United States. It is one of the three Level One referral centers for the Research Triangle area, along with WakeMed Raleigh and UNC Hospitals.
