The dwarf mugo pine (Pinus mugo pumilio) is a small evergreen conifer that does well in containers, rock gardens and mass plantings. The dwarf mugo pine is hardy in USDA hardiness zones two through eight.

This slow-growing tree does not need much water but prefers full sun conditions. It grows 3 to 5 feet high and 6 to 10 feet wide under optimal conditions, reaching maturity in around 10 years. The dwarf mugo palm is not a flowering plant. It is, however, deer resistant, easy to care for and attractive to birds.
