What is dwarf pampas grass?

Dwarf pompas grass, or Cortaderia selloana Pumila, is a perennial, evergreen grass that is identified by its thin, dome-shaped, dark green leaves and feathery, silvery-white plumes. Commonly planted along walls, dwarf pompas grass thrives in hot, full-sun conditions.

Female dwarf pompas grass yields thicker, fuller plumes than their male counterparts. Although dwarf pompas grass grows most effectively when planted individually, many people plant clusters of four or more to inject highly visual styling into their landscaped yard garden. Fresh plumes are also easy to cut and display in vases. The grass's plumes can also be dried and used in wintertime bouquets.
