To dye a head of hair with markers, remove the marker's color tube, release the felt middle, moisten the felt with water, and apply it directly to the hair. This project takes only a few minutes and requires a marker of the desired color, scissors and water.
- Pop off the end of the marker
Pop off the end of the marker. It can be difficult to remove, so have some pliers or a butter knife available to help the process.
- Remove the color tube
Turn the marker over so that the color tube falls out. The color tube is dye-soaked felt wrapped in a thin plastic casing.
- Cut open the color tube
Carefully snip the plastic casing vertically down the length of the tube. Avoid cutting through the felt.
- Remove the felt
Remove the felt from the plastic casing.
- Add water to the felt
Add a few drops of water to the felt to activate the dye. Do not add too much water, as this can create a mess.
- Rub the wet felt onto the hair
Rub the wet felt on the parts of the hair that need coloring.
- Repeat the process
Repeat the process as needed once the color fades. Depending on hair type and color, the color lasts up to two months.
