Where are the ears of a cricket located?
By Forinfos - 25/04/2025 - 0 comments
The ears of a cricket are located on its front legs. Crickets have ultra-sensitive hearing that allows them to hear bats coming. This helps them to swerve out of the way and avoid being eaten.
Just below the knees, crickets have four acoustical inputs on their legs. These openings on their exoskeletons act as ears. The inputs lead into the chambers inside the legs, which connect to both sides of the cricket. The multiple openings allow for sound to pass completely throughout the entire cricket. A cricket is able to face one way or another to determine which direction a sound is coming from.
