What are some easy-to-make valance window treatments?

Some easy-to-make window valances include designs made of leftover cardboard, scrap fabrics, wood and foam core board. These designs require little or no sewing and are made with common craft items. Some supplies include a hot glue gun, a box cutter, a curtain rod, Modge Podge and a staple gun.

To make a window valance out of scrap fabrics, measure the window dimensions, and determine the desired length. Cut the fabric into strips about three inches wide. Double the desired valance length to determine the strip length. Iron the strips, and knot them around the curtain rod. Create the desired color combination or pattern along the rod by alternating fabrics.
