Does eating cantaloupe harm diabetes sufferers?
By Forinfos - 24/02/2025 - 0 comments
Cantaloupe and other fruits are safe for diabetes patients in moderation. Most fruits have a low glycemic index because of their fructose and fiber content; melons, pineapple and dried fruits have medium index values, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Fruits are a great source of fiber, minerals and vitamins; fresh, frozen or canned fruits -in juice or light syrup- without added sugars are the best choices for diabetics. A typical serving of fresh berries or melons ranges from 3/4 cup to 1 cup and contains between 15 and 30 grams of carbohydrates; 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup of fruit juice contains about 15 grams of carbohydrates.
