What eats leopards?

While leopards are occasionally preyed upon by lions and tigers, attacks are rare due to leopards' speed and strength. Leopard cubs also face threats from birds of prey, hyenas, jackals and snakes when their mother is away hunting and they are left unable to fend for themselves.

The biggest threat to leopard populations is habitat loss caused by agricultural and timber industry expansion and humans, who hunt the animals for their prized fur.

The stealthy predators generally hunt medium-sized animals, such as deer and warthogs, to survive. Expert climbers, leopards often pounce on their prey from above and drag their kill to dense vegetation or tree branches away from scavengers.
