Do cats eat dead people?

There are cases of cats eating the bodies of dead humans. In most cases, this has been when a cat's owner dies suddenly and is not discovered for several days.

A forensic pathologist explained that when a pet owner dies suddenly and his cat is left unfed, the cat may resort to eating his owner's body. This behaviour is known as postmortem predation.

In 2013, a woman named Janet Veal died suddenly at her home in Hampshire. It was unclear as to how long her body had been in the house before it was discovered, but it was apparent that her animals, including cats, had eaten a considerable amount of her body.
