The education criteria for earning a DPT degree at the University of Vermont includes completing all the coursework on the science and practice of physical therapy. To earn the degree, students must attend lectures and seminars and participate in the practical lab sessions plus a 36 week full-time internship.
Graduates who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the national professional licensure examination. Other universities have different requirements about which the prospective DPT student should inquire before joining such programs. As of 2014, physical therapy is ranked as one of the best professions in the U.S., and statistics indicate further growth by 2016.
