Horus was one of the ancient Egyptian gods who was depicted as a bird. Horus was the sky-god and was typically depicted as a falcon who protected the king of Egypt. In one region of Egypt, Horus was depicted as a man with the head of a hawk.
Horus played an important role in ancient Egyptian life, with each ruler of the country considered to be the earthly embodiment of Horus himself. Horus was not the only bird god in Ancient Egypt. Horus had a number of varying forms, all assimilated to the name Horus or some variant. Ancient Egyptian mythology stated that Horus' parents were the gods Isis and Osiris.
