Pax Romana ended in 180 A.D. The term is Latin for "Roman peace" and refers to the time period between 27 B.C. and 180 A.D. in which the Roman Empire experienced an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity.

During this time period, the Roman Empire was at its greatest land area and expanded to an estimated 70 million people. Also during this period, advancements in infrastructure were made. The Roman army was used to build roads to connect the whole of the empire, which spanned from England in the north to Morocco in the south and Iraq in the east. Aqueducts were constructed to transport water to cities and farms.
