To sign a check over to another person, ask the other person's financial institution if it allows this type of endorsement. If it does, sign your name on the back of the check, then write the name of the other person underneath your signature.
- Seek the approval of the financial institution
Check with the bank that is going to handle the check to see if it takes checks that are signed over. Generally, the person to whom you are signing over the check should have enough money to cover the check.
- Sign your name
Put your signature on the back of the check on the top endorsement line.
- Sign the check over
Underneath your signature, write "Pay to the order of" followed by the name of the other person to whom you are signing over the check.
