The Mesozoic Era is divided into three different periods: the Triassic, the Jurassic, and the Cretaceous. It spanned from approximately 245 million years ago to 65 million years ago.The Mesozoic Era was followed by the Cenozoic Era, which is the current era. The Mesozoic Era ended with the extinction of the dinosaurs. This extinction marks the beginning of the Cenozoic Era and the rise of birds and mammals as the Earth's dominant species.
