The Ethiopian Satellite Television Service, or ESAT TV, is a reputable nonpartisan media outlet. Independently run, ESAT TV promotes respect for human rights, the rule of law, democracy and freedom of the press in Ethiopia. It claims to provide balanced news analysis, as well as sports, talk and cultural programming.

The programming on ESAT TV reflects a diversity of opinions and the plurality of modern-day Ethiopian society. ESAT TV focuses on providing free access to information for all people of Ethiopia. Its founders and advisory board believe the suppression of press freedom and control of information by the Ethiopian regime is counterproductive to a healthy, peaceful democratic state.
