One example of a carnivore is a lion. Some other animals that are classified as carnivores are tigers, eagles, crocodiles, bears, raccoons, vultures, killer whales and hyenas.
A carnivore is an animal that eats mainly meat, or the flesh of other animals. Carnivores are often referred to as predators because they hunt their prey. Many of them have adaptations such as sharp claws or large teeth that help them hunt their food.
The other classifications of organisms in the food web are autotrophs, herbivores and omnivores. Autotrophs, such as algae, produce their own food. Herbivores are animals that consume plants, and omnivores are creatures that eat both plants and animals.
