What is an example of a fixed pulley?

A fixed pulley is stationary and doesn't move; it changes the direction of force to move an object. An example of a fixed pulley is the traditional water well where a fixed beam is suspended over the opening and the pulley is fixed to the beam to lower the bucket.
Fixed pulleys are also commonly used for flag poles, clothes lines, window blinds, sails on the mast of a sail boat, ski lifts, timing belts in an engine and cranes used in construction. More complex pulley systems that combine fixed pulleys with movable pulleys can be found in elevators, escalators and machine weight exercise equipment, such as Bowflex home gyms.
