What is an example of a microculture?

Microcultures can be seen as racial groups, like Asian-Americans, religious groups and other groupings of individuals, such as graduates of a specific college or children of military officers. The term "microculture" refers to any subgroup that exists within a broader culture.
Understanding the concept of a microculture is easier if students also understand the concept of a macroculture, which is a common culture in a given place, such as the United States. There are certain cultural concepts that unite Americans from all walks of life, but people living in the United States are also defined by the things that set them apart from the general culture, like religion or ethnic background.
