Examples of prejudice in schools include excluding students from activities and social groups due to religious beliefs, race, gender or sexual orientation; judging others based on stereotypes; and bullying students due to academic performance or beliefs. Prejudice often leads to discrimination and can drastically affect a person's well being.

Prejudice also occurs in schools when teachers or administrators do not respect or allow a student's right to express beliefs, wear cultural clothing or jewelry and practice religious customs. It also is evidenced by denying opportunities due to belonging to a specific social group, race, gender or community. Prejudice and discrimination also occurs toward students from economically disadvantaged environments.
