Some extra-large dog breeds are mastiff, great Dane, Newfoundland and great Pyreness. There are multiple types of mastiff dogs, including a regular mastiff, Neopolitan mastiff and bull mastiff. These are all very large dog breeds.

Great Danes are large dogs, but they are also friendly and patient, making them excellent dogs for families. A regular mastiff dog can reach 36 inches in height and over 200 pounds in weight. Mastiffs are courageous and good-natured dogs. Bull mastiff are very protective of their owners, while the Neopolitan mastiff is loyal and steady, but wary of strangers. Newfoundland dogs are excellent companions and enjoy human company.
