What factors into the gross combination weight rating of a trailer?
By Forinfos - 27/04/2025 - 0 comments
The gross combination weight rating of a trailer includes everything on the trailer, including the weight of cargo, passengers and the trailer, according to the Association for the Work Truck Industry. The GCWR is the maximum allowable weight for the truck and trailer combined.
The GCWR of a vehicle differs from the gross vehicle weight rating in that the GCWR includes the weight of the truck in the rating for safety reasons, according to Scott C. Benjamin of HowStuffWorks. Overloading both the tow vehicle and the truck can cause major problems, including tire blowouts, bent suspension systems or failed braking systems.
