Under normal circumstances, babies are able to lift their heads at 1 month. They should be able to hold their heads in an upright position when 4 months old, and by 6 months, this ability should be stronger and steadier.
Between 1 and 2 months of age, babies typically develop the ability to turn their head for brief periods, but this tends to be when lying on their back.
Between 3 and 4 months, babies should be able to raise their heads when lying on their front. At this age, it is possible to facilitate the development of neck muscles by slowly pulling them forward from lying on their back.
