What fast food chains began to franchise in the 1950s?

McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, and Pizza Hut are fast food chains that started their operation in the 1950s. McDonald's, originally started in San Bernardino, Calif., was the first fast food restaurant chain to franchise with a total of eight restaurants open in the early years of the decade.
Kentucky Fried Chicken opened its first restaurant in South Salt Lake, Utah in 1952 and began franchising shortly after its initial success. Burger King opened its doors in 1954 in Miami, Fla. and quickly followed suit with franchised locations. Pizza Hut, the first pizza franchise, opened in 1958 and had quick success, followed by numerous franchised locations.
