Fat deposits is characterized by the growth of fat tissue just below the skin and this condition is referred to as lipoma. A person of any age can get this condition, though it is rare in children.
Lipoma can occur at any part of the body including the shoulder, thighs, arms, neck and back. The cause of lipoma is not known, as stated by Healthline. Having a lipoma is not a symptom of cancer and can cause no harm when left untreated. If a person feels like a lipoma is bothering him or her, they can seek treatment. Surgery, steroid injections and liposuction can be used to clear a lipoma.
