Fenugreek may be beneficial for diabetics, according to Healthline. The seeds contain fiber and chemicals believed to slow digestion and the rate at which the body absorbs carbohydrates. Fenugreek may also decrease absorption of glucose and encourage the body to release insulin, which naturally lowers blood sugar, states Dr. Oz.
Fenugreek is generally well tolerated and very safe, according to Dr. Oz. Side effects, such as bloating and gas, are usually mild. Diabetics taking medication should use caution when consuming fenugreek, as it may cause blood sugar to fall below target levels. Pregnant women are advised to avoid fenugreek unless instructed otherwise by a doctor.
