The flame angelfish, Centropyge loricula, is a species found off the coast of tropical islands in the Pacific Ocean. Their striking orange-to-red body with vertical black bars is often sought by enthusiasts seeking to brighten aquarium settings.
A common sight along coral reefs in the wild, captive flame angelfish require a tank of at least 70 gallons, live rock for grazing and plenty of hiding places. While their natural diet consists of algae and small crustaceans, captive fish are fed frozen shrimp, high-quality angelfish preparations, marine algae and other meaty items. According to LiveAquaria.com, the flame angelfish does best when introduced to an already-established aquarium.
