How long do angelfish live?
By Forinfos - 28/03/2026 - 0 comments
In captivity, freshwater angelfish typically live eight to 10 years, but they can survive for up to 15 years. Their hardiness and longevity makes them a popular fish in home aquariums.
Angelfish reach up to 6 inches in length as adults and require at least a 20-gallon tank, preferring taller tanks over longer ones. They are flexible about tank conditions, preferring temperatures between 74 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit and a pH between 6 and 7.5. In low pH and temperatures over 80 degrees, angelfish readily breed in the home aquarium, laying their eggs on flat surfaces. Angelfish are bred in many colors, including silver, zebra, gold and chocolate.
