What is a First American home warranty?

A First American home warranty is a contract between a home buyer and First American that provides discounted repairs and services of major systems and appliances in the home. It is different from homeowners insurance in that it covers regular wear but does not protect against unforeseen circumstances.

Buyers generally pay the cost of home warranties up front when buying their homes. Both new and used homes may come with warranties, though warranties for older homes may cost more or cover fewer items. Warranties generally cover major systems like plumbing and air conditioning, as well as larger appliances that are often included in the purchase of the home such as the refrigerator, washer and dryer.
