The first soap opera to air on NBC was "Another World." It began airing on NBC in 1964, with starting characters like Hudson, Frame and Cory. It aired until June 1999.
"Another World" began as a 30-minute soap opera, then became the first soap opera to air a full hour. It expanded to 90 minutes between March 1979 and August 1980 before it went back to the standard hour. "Another World" has other records as well, including being the first soap opera to have a spinoff. Two spinoffs came from the show, including "Texas" and "Somerset." "Another World" was created by William J. Bell and Irna Phillips.
