Who was the first veterinarian?

The first veterinarian was not recorded but records do show that veterinary medicine started being practiced in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Iran during approximately 9,000 BC. Egyptians advanced these simple veterinary practices and recorded them in their hieroglyphic writing system.

The earliest account of veterinary medicine is considered the Kahun Papyrus of 1900 BC. There is also evidence of veterinary medicine advances in 1500 BC by the Hindu people of India. The text was written as a part of the sacred texts. Modern day veterinary medicine started in 1761 in France, and the first veterinary school was founded there by Claude Bourgelat.
