What is the fishing outlook near Tippy Dam?

Tippy Dam is one of the finest fishing areas in all of Michigan. Located in Manistee County, the area just below the dam is an excellent location to catch trout, steelhead and salmon.

Built in 1918, Tippy Dam is a hydroelectric dam currently operated by Consumer Energy. The fishing outlook of Tippy Dam is part of the 78-acre recreation area surrounding the Tippy Dam Pond boating access site. During the salmon run each fall when oceanic salmon swim upstream to spawn, the Tippy Dam fishing outlook is a rich and popular location for anglers to catch king salmon that weigh as much as 20 pounds.
