Fix a clogged toilet by pouring a 16-ounce box of baking soda into the bowl and then slowly adding a gallon of distilled white vinegar. Let the mixture sit in the bowl for 10 minutes, and flush the toilet. Add very hot water to the bowl, and flush again.
- Add baking soda to the bowl
Pour the entire contents of one 16-ounce box of baking soda into the toilet bowl.
- Add vinegar to the bowl slowly
Slowly pour a 1-gallon bottle of distilled white vinegar into the bowl. The vinegar reacts with the baking soda to create foam. Add the vinegar slowly to avoid overflowing the toilet bowl.
- Let the mixture sit
Wait 10 minutes for the chemical reaction to remove the clog from the toilet.
- Flush the toilet
Flush the toilet to remove the baking soda and vinegar from the bowl. The toilet drain works well enough at this point to clear the bowl.
- Rinse the drain with hot water
Run a tap until the water is as hot as it gets. Then run 1 gallon of the very hot water into a bucket. Carefully pour the water into the toilet bowl all at once. The water runs down the pipes, removing any last remnants of the clog. Flush one last time.
