How do you fix hairline fractures?

Most often, hairline fractures, also known as stress fractures, heal on their own after several months. Treatment options include elevating the affected body part and pain relieving medications, according to Mayo Clinic.
In some cases, a doctor might put a splint in place to help the patient keep the affected area immobile. If the fracture is on the leg, foot, ankle or other lower extremity, a person may need to use crutches or an orthopedic boot, as stated by WebMD.
For pain and swelling, patients can apply ice on the area. Patients should also refrain from exercising or performing other strenuous activities until the fracture is healed.
