What is the flashpoint of gasoline?

The flash point of gasoline is negative 45 degrees Fahrenheit. At this point, enough of the liquid vaporizes to create a combustible gas. The flash point is one indicator of the flammability of a substance.
Gasoline is a flammable liquid that burns at normal ambient temperatures. While gasoline is quite dangerous when mishandled, it also makes it an ideal fuel for the internal combustion engine. When a gasoline engine compresses the vapor and the spark plug provides a spark, the fuel burns with an expanding volume to push a cylinder in an engine. The process converts stored energy in gasoline into mechanical energy that powers the vehicle.
