According to Rent.com, as of September 2015, Jacksonville and Tallahassee have some of the cheapest places to rent. In these areas, the average cost of living is up to 9 percent lower than the national average, and apartments rather than full houses are especially affordable

In September 2015, units in Jacksonville start from around $273 per month, with the cheapest one- and two-bed houses coming in from a little over $500. Florida's capital, Tallahassee offers even more reasonable rental prices for dedicated bargain seekers, with apartments from $241 and houses for as little as $495 per month. Not all properties in these areas are this cheap, though, and prices go as high as $1,895 per month for three-bed townhouse properties.
