Which food group do spring roll wrappers belong to in the Food Pyramid?
By Forinfos - 27/01/2026 - 0 comments
Spring roll wrappers are customarily made of rice flour, salt and water. Rice is a grain, so spring roll wrappers should be counted in the grains section of United States Department of Agriculture Food Pyramid.
The long-used pyramid structure for nutrition has now been replaced by the MyPlate system, which divides the grain category into whole grains and refined grains. If the spring roll wrappers are made with brown rice, they would qualify as a whole grain food. If they are made with white rice, as most rice flour is, they would qualify as a refined grain product. It is recommended that whole grains constitute at least half of the grains a person consumes.
