To make coffee without a coffee pot, just gently boil some water and grounds in a pan on the stove. Once the grounds have settled, you can ladle or pour the coffee into cups.
- Decide how much water to use
Use 6 ounces of water for each cup of coffee you want to make. Make sure to add an extra ounce of water to compensate for what is going to left behind in the pot. If you have a coffee filter or paper towel to strain your coffee with, the extra water may not be necessary.
- Boil your water, and add coffee grounds
Once the water has reached a rolling bubble, add your grounds. You want to use 2 to 4 tablespoons of grounds for each 6 ounces of coffee, depending on how strong you like it.
- Turn off heat
Once you've added the grounds to your water, turn off the heat. If you have a coil stove, move your pot off the eye, or you run the risk of burning your grounds and ruining your coffee.
- Let grounds settle
Cover your pot, and wait 5 minutes for the grounds to settle to the bottom. If you have a coffee filter or paper towel to strain the grounds through, this step is not necessary.
- Pour coffee into cups
Either carefully pour the coffee from the pot into the cups, or use a ladle to spoon the coffee into the cups.
