What foods are low in oxalate?
By Forinfos - 20/12/2025 - 0 comments
Foods low in oxalate include fresh meats, dairy products made from cow’s and goat’s milk, squash, and dark green vegetables such as asparagus. Oxalate is also not found in large quantities in wild rice or barley, vegetable oils, white chocolate, or sugar.
Oxalate is a compound found in foods that are rich in metal ions, and it can cause the build-up of calcium inside the body. Consuming oxalate is a common cause of kidney stones, and individuals with chronic kidney stones may benefit from a low-oxalate diet. Drinking sufficient fluid and limiting salt intake also help to break down oxalate in the body so calcium deposits cannot form.
